Fionnuala is a consultant physician in Respiratory and acute medicine in UCH. She graduated from the Queen's University of Belfast and trained in Respiratory and General Internal medicine in Northen Ireland. She was awarded an MD in 2004 from Queen's for her thesis examining the role of airway mast cells in asthma. After completing her training she undertook a fellowship in sleep medicine at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne Australia. She was appointed as a consultant physician in UCH in 2008. She runs 2 specialist sleep clinics in UCH as well as a general respiratory clinic.
