Inherited cardiovascular disease (cardiomyopathy)

The inherited cardiovascular disease unit at The Heart Hospital treats patients with a wide range of cardiomyopathies (diseases of the heart muscle) throughout the progression of the disease, from family screening through to corrective surgery.

Our team has a national and international reputation for the quality of the specialised services it provides. We have the largest surgical programme for the treatment of cardiomyopathies in the UK.

Our clinics have access to a wide range of same day diagnostic testing including exercise testing and MRI scanning. Although this may result in each visit lasting several hours we are able to discuss test results with patients on the day of their appointment and do in single visit what can require multiple visits at other hospitals.

Patients will also meet one of our nurse specialists who provide lifelong support to patients and families affected by cardiomyopathy.

Dr Antonis Pantazis Inherited cardiovascular disease (cardiomyopathy)
Dr Perry Elliott Inherited cardiovascular disease (cardiomyopathy)
Dr Maria Teresa Tome Esteban Inherited cardiovascular disease (cardiomyopathy)
Prof William McKenna Inherited cardiovascular disease (cardiomyopathy)

 Patient testimonials

"Can I say how fantastic you all were on the day. Everyone was really friendly and helpful and you all explained everything so well. I have to say I'm not used to this kind of service. I know I'm not out of the woods yet but I'm feeling so much better. I'm playing sport at full pace again with no symptoms at all."
