UCLH Pharmacy provides a trustwide comprehensive array of pharmacy services with the overall aim of ensuring safe, effective and economical use of medicines throughout the trust and supporting education, training and research. The pharmacy is closely involved in all stages of medicine use from negotiating contracts for the purchase of medicines through to assessing the outcomes of medicines in the clinical setting.
The Head of Pharmacy has a trust-wide responsibility for ensuring high-quality medicines management and safe and secure storage of medicines.
The Use of Medicines Committee oversees medicines management issues including the trust formulary and assessment of new drugs. The Medication Safety Committee focuses specifically upon improving medication safety.
Pharmacy services are delivered from pharmacies at each of the main clinical sites: UCH, The Heart Hospital, The National Hospital and Mortimer Market (for tropical diseases and HIV) and contact details for these are listed below.
UCLH pharmacy also provides medicines production and medicines procurement/distribution from MHRA licensed units (details below).
