Frequently asked questions

What does The National Brain Appeal raise money for?

The National Brain Appeal is the charity dedicated to raising funds for The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Ten million people in the UK suffer from a neurological disorder, either from birth, through injury or a slowly developing illness. The National is one of the world's leading centres for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with a wide range of neurological conditions.

In what ways can I support The National Brain Appeal?

There are numerous ways to support the work of the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery ranging from skydiving, walking the London Bridgathon, taking part in a running event, selling cakes or even shaving your hair!

However, if you would simply like to make a donation we recommend you do not send cash through the post. Cheques should be made payable to ‘The National Brain Appeal’ and sent to:

Can I volunteer for The National Brain Appeal events?

If you would like to help out at one of our events, or perhaps lend a hand in our office we would be very keen to hear from you. You can send us an email at nhdffundraising@uclh.nhs.uk and we will get back to you to discuss.

Where can I find The National Brain Appeal office?

Although we raise funds for the NHNN, we are not based in the Hospital itself. Our offices are located very close by, just off Queen Square at 4th Floor Ormond House, 26-27 Boswell Street.

Can I take part in overseas challenges on behalf of The National Brain Appeal?

Yes! We have held overseas treks and bike challenges for nearly ten years now and destinations have included Vietnam, Peru, Chile and South Africa. They are a very rewarding way in which to support our work and together our trekkers and cyclists have raised over £1,064,000 for The National Brain Appeal. Please contact the fundraising team on 020 3448 4724 for further information.

How do I leave a legacy to The National Brain Appeal?

We are extremely grateful for every legacy left to us, they are crucial to the fundraising work we do and we rely on these gifts to get projects up and running. If you are making a Will for the first time, we advise you to seek professional assistance usually from a solicitor. Please contact Leigh Stanger on 020 3448 4724 to request The National Brain Appeal will pack.
