Putting patients first
Our vision is to provide top-quality patient care, so our commitment to patients and visitors is:
- To be friendly, helpful and welcoming
- To introduce ourselves by name and role, and explain what we do
- To give each person our full attention
- To anticipate the needs of our patients and visitors
- To take time to listen and find out what people really want or need
- To respond promptly and do what we have promised
- To be well-informed and pass on information
- To treat everyone with respect, apologising if appropriate
- To offer to help - not wait to be asked
- To find someone to help if we aren’t able to
Tell us about your experience at UCLH by e-mailing servicecommitment@uclh.nhs.uk.
UCLH staff are awarded a Service Commitment Award if they deliver an exceptional service to improve the patient experience.
Do you know a UCLH member of staff who is a shining star and deserves to win a Service Commitment Awards? If so, the Trust is waiting to hear from you!
The awards are given to those members of staff whose courteous, helpful and respectful behaviour leaves patients with a positive and lasting impression of their time at UCLH.
The awards are a great opportunity to recognise and reward those members of staff who go ‘that extra mile’. And it’s not just clinical staff who are eligible. All staff have their part to play in creating a positive experience for patients. First impressions do count and patients form an impression from the way they are treated.
The awards are based on the 10 point plan above. Most staff have seen the Service Commitment posters and leaflets but it is important for staff to consider how they can incorporate the points into their everyday work and professional practice.
To nominate a member of staff for a Service Commitment Award please email: servicecommitment@uclh.nhs.uk.
