How to use
To use Brain Force Plus you should take two capsules daily.
It makes sense to take it first thing in the morning to help you get the most benefit to keep your mind as sharp as it can be throughout the day.
Brain Force Plus Ingredients
There are some good additions to Brain Force Plus. But we have to say it isn’t the strongest nootropic that we’ve come across on the market.
We like a lot of the ingredients in here, however, there are a few that tarnish the overall effectiveness.
It’s not the worst nootropic that we’ve seen on the market – but there are some improvements that we would like to see.
Below, we look at the main ingredients along with our summary and suggestions on how it may be improved.
This is what we’ve found:
This is a great start to Brain Force Plus. Bacopa is a herb which has been seen in numerous studies to help improve memory formation and promote cognitive enhancement.
It’s also been seen in numerous cases to help reduce anxiety.
This is the type of herb that comes in handy a lot if you find yourself in high pressure enivronments. It allows you to keep cool and collected with a relaxed mind and better recall.
This isn’t a strong option for promoting cognition, but Alpha GPC can help in other ways when it comes to Brain Force Plus.
The main thing that this nutrient has been seen to do in studies is to dramatically increase the power output in athletes.
It’s good for helping you apply more force in the gym. You’re unlikely to get much cognitive benefit from it, but it if you’re exercising you should notice a difference.
This however is not a good choice in Brain Force Plus. Yerba Mate has no links to improving cognition, the main benefits come the caffeine in herb.
This is usually good when it used in supplements like fat burners and pre workouts because they can help give you an energy boost.
However, when it comes to nootropics, it’s not as effective.
Why? Because caffeine can give you a burst of energy followed by a crash. It gives you the illusion of cognition and then after the energy crash can leave you feeling more fatigued than when you started.
It’s not an ideal choice in a nootropic – especially as improving your mental agility is the main goal.
Yerba Mate is not a good choice in Brain Force Plus because of this caffeine.
This isn’t much of a cognitive booster in Brain Force Plus either – but it can help you to some extent in other ways.
How? Theobromine is an amino acid that can help to promote your blood and nutrient flow.
In doing so, this can help get more nutrients, blood and oxygen to your brain and also improve your overall absorption of this supplement.
This is a much better ingredient in Brain Force Plus.
However, we should point out that this Phosphatidylserine is extracted from soy.
We’re making a point of this purely because Brain Force Plus comes from InfoWars.com and they have made statements that soy products are turning men feminine and refer to them as “soyboys”.
There are alternative sources where you can get Phosphatidylserine, like sunflower extract – but InfoWars have chosen the soy option.
Regardless of all this – Phosphatidylserine is an effective cognitive enhancer. Studies show that it improve focus, attention and cognition while helping to reduce cognitive decline.
It can also improve processing speed and reduce brain fatigue.
An amino acid which is commonly found in herbs like green tea. It’s a good ingredient in Brain Force Plus.
So, what does it do?
L-Theanine is an amino acid which can help to promote calmness and relaxation in your body which can help you focus much easier.
It can even work in synergy with caffeine which can help extend the boost associated with it.
Although it may help the caffeine in the yerba mate in this nootropic – we still feel that caffeine is a bad choice in this supplement.
This isn’t a cognitive enhancer in Brain Force Plus – but it can help in other ways.
So, how can it help in this supplement?
Black Pepper can help by improving your overall bio-availability which can promote absorption.
This can help you increase the amount you absorb from this supplement and allow you to get more out it. It can activate quicker and has more of an overall impact.
It’s a fantastic support here for sure.
This is the final ingredient in Brain Force Plus, unfortunately however, it isn’t a great one.
Huperzine A is a nutrient comes from Clubmoss and is thought to promote focus. It does work to an extent, but research shows that it is easy for your body to build a tolerance too.
Not only that, there are a few side effects which are also associated with Huperzine A.
We’ll cover those in more detail later in our Brain Force Plus side effects section later.
What could help to improve Brain Force Plus?
There are several things that we think could be changed in Brain Force Plus to make it more effective.
We would start by removing the Yerba Mate as that removes the caffeine from this supplement making it a stimulant-free nootropic.
However, we think a few ingredients could be added to make it more effective. The main ingredients that we think would improve this supplement are:
- Citicoline – Helps to improve brain energy and focus.
- L-Tyrosine- Reduces stress hormones which can allow you to focus more effectively.
- Maritime Pine Bark – Improves overall blood flow to the brain, ensuring it gets optimum nutrients, blood and oxygen.
This could all help improve this supplement. It’s far from perfect, and we think there are better options out there on the market.
Especially with InfoWars’ strict views on soy… yet they use it Brain Force Plus with the phosphatidylserine.
Brain Force Plus Side Effects
The side effect concerns with Brain Force Plus is the Huperzine A.
Huperzine A has been seen in some cases to cause problems like nausea, upset stomach and diarrhea. This could be an issue in Brain Force Plus. If you have any concerns, you should speak to your doctor or medical professional before using it.
Another problem that you have to consider is the caffeine. It’s a stimulant which can cause energy crashes after a few hours – which can help affect your focus and cognition.
It could be made better by removing the Yerba Mate and Huperzine A here.
Brain Force vs Alpha Brain
So how does Brain Force compare to Alpha Brain?
Alpha Brain, unlike Brain Force, is full of proprietary blends. This is not a good thing. A proprietary blend is when a supplement manufacturer chooses to hide the dosage of the individual ingredients in their supplement. They instead group them together under larger dosages.
This means you don’t know how much of each ingredient you’re getting or how effective it will be overall – whereas Brain Force Plus shows all the dosages in their supplement clearly.
In terms of the ingredients themselves, they are relatively similar, but Onnit’s Alpha Brain does have a few more options like Uncaria Tomentosa, Oatstraw, L-Tyrosine (which we suggested for Brain Force), Leucine, Vinpocetine and Pterostilbene.
It covers more angles – but it is more expensive at $79.99 per bottle as opposed to Brain Force Plus being just $25.95.
Brain Force Plus Review Summary
As you can see, there are some good ingredients in Brain Force Plus, but it isn’t the most effective nootropic out there on the market.
There are certain problems like with the Yerba Mate and the Huperzine A which hold this supplement back.
We think some ingredients could be removed from this nootropic, and some others like Citicoline, L-Tyrosine and Maritime Pine Bark would be great if they were added.
Some revisions need to be made before we can recommend this nootropic.
