Caliber Labs Testosterone: Ingredient Analysis
There are several ingredients in this testosterone booster. However, there’s only two here that really have any ground when it comes to promoting testosterone levels.
However, that doesn’t mean the other ingredients are useless – but it does show that Caliber Labs Testosterone may be mislabeled.
In our opinion this supplement definitely seems to be more of a libido enhancing product that an actual testosterone booster.
Below, we have our write up of the main ingredients in this supplement. Take a look for yourself, but to us, the intentions seem pretty clear:
This is a good start to this testosterone booster. Magnesium is an effective mineral for helping to raise free-T in Caliber Labs Testosterone.
So, what is free-t and how does Magnesium raise it?
Free-T is free testosterone, which is the amount of the male hormone which is readily available for your body to use. The more of it you have available, the more testosterone you’ll be able to utilize.
However, due to a protein in your blood known as Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG), much of your free testosterone is diminished. SHBG binds to free testosterone and removes its anabolic potency. This makes it ineffective.
Magnesium helps by inhibiting the protein, which reduces its overall influence and allows more testosterone to flow through your blood freely.
It’s a good addition to Caliber Labs Testosterone.
Another effective mineral in Caliber Labs Testosterone. Zinc is better for boosting your testosterone levels directly.
It does this by being used for several chemical reactions in your brain which helps to create the Luteinizing Hormone (LH). LH is your body’s precursor to both growth hormone and testosterone. The more of it you have in your system, the more support your testosterone levels have to rise.
This however, is not a strong ingredient in Caliber Labs Testosterone.
There’s a lot of talk that Tribulus can help to raise your testosterone levels. However, this isn’t exactly true for us humans.
The only studies which have seen Tribulus to help raise testosterone is when it is used in animal research. Similar results have not been able to scale up to humans.
The only thing that Tribulus may help you with here is to mildly boost your libido.
Not really a strong choice in Caliber Labs Testosterone either. Chrysin is a nutrient which has some claims to boost testosterone – however it is has only been seen to work in one human study.
The study in question involved injecting chrysin directly into the subject’s testes. Not supplementing it, injecting it… in their testes. This has been the only observed way for it to raise testosterone levels.
Oral supplementation has not been seen to do this, and you’re unlike to get much benefit from it here in this supplement.
Horny Goat Weed
This isn’t a strong choice in Caliber Labs Testosterone either. Also known as Epimedium, Horny Goat Weed is another ingredient which has some claims to boost testosterone levels.
However, studies show that this may not actually be the case. In reality, the most it has been seen to do is mildly improve libido. You shouldn’t expect much from this ingredient in Caliber Labs Testosterone.
Tongkat Ali, Longjack, Eurycoma Longifolia, whatever you want to call it – Longjack is a common ingredient in most testosterone boosters.
Unfortunately however, it isn’t that effective.
In a similar fashion to Tribulus, Longjack has been seen to help testosterone levels in animal studies. Sadly, the same results do not scale up in human testing.
You’re unlikely to get the results that you’re looking for from it, unless you’re mainly focused on libido boosting.
This is more of a ‘male health’ aid in Caliber Labs Testosterone rather than a testosterone booster.
So, what can Saw Palmetto do?
It’s a nutrient which studies show can help improve the health of your prostate. Saw Palmetto can mainly help with the condition hyperplasia, which is an enlarged prostate.
Although it’s not as effective as the actual medicine you need, it’s a nice natural support to help make your prostate healthier.
Hawthorn Berries / Cissus Quadrangularis
These two ingredients have been put together in our Caliber Labs Testosterone review, because they do largely the same thing.
They’re both anti-inflammatory. The main thing that they can do here is to help reduce any inflammation you’re having, which can improve blood and nutrient flow. This can help with absorption and allowing you to absorb what your body needs at a faster, more effective rate.
Ingredients Overview: Caliber Labs Testosterone
It’s a real mixed bag with this supplement. Some of the ingredients like the Zinc and Magnesium are great for improving testosterone.
The rest however, seem to be more targeted towards libido. Which is fine, but if you’re looking for higher testosterone levels and more muscle mass (like the bottle suggests) this may not be the supplement for you.
More focus needs to be put actually boosting testosterone levels with this supplement to make it more effective and worth considering.
Is Caliber Labs Testosterone safe to use?
In our opinion, we’d say that it is, and you shouldn’t have any trouble using it.
All the ingredients are natural, and the dosages appear to be within normal ranges.
However, if you have any concerns, allergies or preexisting conditions, we recommend that you check with your doctor before using it.
Better to be safe than sorry.
What would uclh.org change in Caliber Labs Testosterone?
We would remove a lot of the herbal ingredients in this supplement and replace them with different ones.
Good choices would be Ashwagandha, D-Aspartic Acid, Mucuna Pruriens and Luteolin.
Ashwagandha would help a lot here as it can help to reduce your levels of the stress hormone cortisol. When your stress levels are high, so are your cortisol levels. However, to balance your hormones out, higher cortisol levels leads to lower testosterone levels. This is a process your body performs known as homeostasis.
Ashwagandha helps by keeping your levels of the stress hormone down. In doing so, your body has a better hormonal environment for your testosterone levels to rise.
D-Aspartic Acid would also be a good option. It helps improve your overall levels of the Luteinizing Hormone (LH) like Zinc does which can promote testosterone and growth hormone.
Mucuna Pruriens help in a similar way by increasing your Gonadotropin-releasing Hormone (GnRH) which is a precursor to LH. Again, this is more overall support for your testosterone levels.
Finally, Luteolin can help as an aromatase inhibitor. This essentially means it can work as an estrogen suppressant and keep your overall levels of the female hormone lower.
Caliber Labs Testosterone Review Summary
On the whole, this isn’t the best testosterone booster that we’ve come across on the market.
The main thing Caliber Labs Testosterone has going for it is that it contains Zinc and Magnesium. Aside from that there’s only libido enhancing nutrients in here and not a lot else.
Here are the main concerns we have with Caliber Labs Testosterone:
- Some Ineffective Ingredients – Not all nutrients in here promote testosterone.
- Missing Core Nutrients – More study backed ingredients would help a lot here.
- No Estrogen Management – More ingredients like Luteolin would help control the female hormone.
