If you’ve read any of our other nootropic reviews, you’ll know that these ingredients are among some of our favorite on the market.
We also love that all the dosages are disclosed – you know exactly what you’re getting with Mind Lab Pro and that’s great for helping us know the full effect of it.
Mind Lab Pro also put together a brief overview of the ingredients in their nootropic via their in-house neuroscientist Dr. Ramon Velazquez, Ph.D. who gives you a quick explanation of the ingredients used:
We’ve also done something of a write up ourselves that you can read in full below:
Citicoline (as Cognizin) – 250 mg
There is already citicoline in your brain and it’s vital for brainpower. Citicoline is used in your brain to energize brain cells but also to optimize the electrical impulses that creates thought.
Supplementing it in Mind Lab Pro builds on those benefits. Taking it can help promote mood, memory, attention, focus, concentration and potentially maintenance of long-term brain health.
The specific kind of Citicoline used in MindLab Pro – Cognizin, has been seen in studies to help promote mental performance, brain energy and memory recall. These were all made from human clinical trials.
To give you an idea of how effective it is, research shows that Cognizin boosts brain cell membrane formation by 26% and brain energy by nearly 14%. Huge numbers.
Phosphatidylserine (as Sharp PS Green) – 100 mg
Another component that is already active and working in your brain. Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid – a type of fat, that makes up to 15% of your brain’s overall fat.
It improves your brain’s glucose metabolism which supports brain cell energy ans promotes neurotransmitters such as dopamine and acetylcholine.
There’s also some thought Phosphatidylserine may help support brain cell creation through increasing Nerve Growth Factor which helps with general brain maintainence and repair.
In Mind Lab Pro, Phosphatidyslerine may help to promote memory, reduce cognitive decline, and improve general mood.
Clinical studies with the elderly have shown Mind Lab Pro to help with brain degeneration and memory loss.
Although natural nootropics cannot be FDA approved, Phosphatidylserine actually has an FDA-qualification for reducing cognitive decline.
The Phosphatidylserine used in Mind Lab Pro in particular is interesting – it’s Sharp PS Green from Sunflower Lecithin. That means the Phosphatidylserine in Mind Lab Pro is soy-free, non-GMO and even eco-friendly.
Bacopa Monnieri – 150 mg
Bacopa Monnieri is one of the highest rated nootropic herbs. It’s liked so much because it contains a large amount of antioxidants like superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase – both of which can help protect brain cells from the effects of aging.
Again, like with other ingredients in Mind Lab Pro, Bacopa can help to promote acetylcholine and serotonin. It can also help increase your GABA levels too, which can improve memory, mood and clear thought.
The Bacopa in Mind Lab Pro has been seen to help learning and recall in clinical research.
Lion’s Mane Mushroom – 500 mg
Also known as Yamabushitake, MindLab Pro’s secret weapon for Nerve Growth Factor is Lion’s Mane. Animal research shows that it may help in this area with neural regeneration.
Done correctly, better NGF may help learning and memory. It could also help brain cell membrane function.
Double-blind studies with a placebo showed Lion’s Mane Mushroom to help 50 – 80 year olds with cognitive impairment.
It may even help with mood balance.
The most telling effects of Lion’s Mane comes from research which showed cognitive improvements to decline after supplementation was stopped. It’s highly likely has effective cognitive benefits.
Want a complete breakdown of these ingredients, complete with studies? Mind Lab Pro has them all listed on their website:
Maritime Pine Bark Extract – 75 mg
This is an antioxidant-heavy nutrient in Mind Lab Pro. Maritime Pine Bark is more of a supporting ingredient in this nootropic.
It does have some benefits, but we feel it isn’t as potent as some of the other options in here.
The antioxidants in the Pine Bark help reduce the damaging effects of toxic free radicals in your brain.
The bark can also help promote nitric oxide levels which can boost blood flow to your brain which can ensure better oxygen and glucose flow to that area. This is good for helping to keep your brain energized.
The final thing we need to say about Maritime Pine Bark in Mind Lab Pro is that it has proanthocyanidin bioactivities which can help brain regeneration and support the reversal of cognitive decline.
With all this combined, the main benefits you may get from Pine Bark are better mental energy, attention, focus and memory, while also helping to reduce cognitive decline.
Mind Lab Pro uses a specialist type of Maritime Pine Bark for 95% active nootropic proanthocyanidins to give you the best results.
L-Tyrosine (as N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine / NALT) – 175 mg
A great amino acid in MindLab Pro which is comes in handy for helping your mood, memory and mental processing.
It helps to synthesize catecholamine neurotransmitters which helps dopamine, epinephrine and norepinephrine which all support the benefits above.
Some animal research shows that it helps to reduce brain stress. This can help you better handle the drain that comes from high-pressure thinking.
Human trials, on the other hand, suggests that supplementing NALT (N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine) may help you to manage stress. This could help when working with high stress, fatigue or not getting enough sleep.
Mind Lab Pro uses NALT (N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine) because it’s the easiest form of Tyrosine to absorb and is more potent thatn Tyrosine.
L-Theanine (as Suntheanine) – 100 mg
Mind Lab Pro has a good amount of L-Theanine, 100 mg. L-Theanine is found in herbs like Green Tea – but in small amounts, however, with a generous amount in Mind Lab Pro, you can get much more benefit.
L-Theanine can help boost alpha brainwaves. Alpha brainwaves help with creativity and wakeful relaxation. Essentially keeping your mind active and in control.
It can help to boost your levels of serotonin, dopamine and GABA which can help to calm your mind.
This amino acid may help to give you an overall state of calmness and focus. This good for both learning and for problem solving. It also goes great with a coffee – L-Theanine has been seen to help manage the jitters associated with caffeine.
Rhodiola Rosea – 50 mg
The main benefit of the Scandinavian herb Rhodiola Rosea is that it can help to reduce stress. It does this by supporting the reduction of the stress hormone cortisol in your system.
The benefits typically last up to 6 hours and take around 30 minutes to kick in.
Human clinical research shows links to mental energy benefits when dosed correctly. Mind Lab Pro ensures that the Rhodiola used has at least 3% rosavins and 1% salidrosides which are the active nootropics in this herb.
Essentially they’re ensuring you’re getting the components of this herb that works.
Vitamin Bs (B6 – 2.5 mg, B9 – 100 mcg, B12 – 7.5 mcg)
Although they may just seem like general vitamins, B6, B9 and B12 can make a huge difference when used correctly in a cognitive booster like Mind Lab Pro.
Good amounts of these 3 vitamins together can help to promote and balance homocysteine levels which are linked to sharper mental performance.
In particular it can help with cognitive decline, mood, mental energy, memory and brain health.
Mind Lab Pro has their vitamins made in a nature-identical form grown in cultures. This makes it the easiest way for your body to absorb as it is no different to naturally occuring vitamin Bs that you’ll find in foods.
It’s a seriously good touch in MindLab Pro.

Mind Lab Pro Side Effects
There have been no side effects officially reported from taking Mind Lab Pro. Almost every online review seems to agree that MindLabPro is one of the cleanest nootropics on the market and has not been seen to cause any issues.
To us, Mind Lab Pro is safe.
However, this does not mean it is universally safe to use. Everyone responds to supplements differently, even natural supplements. If you have any concerns, preexisting conditions, or allergies you should speak to your doctor before using this nootropic.
It is very likely that Mind Lab Pro is safe for you to use, but if you do have any concerns, you should speak to a medical professional before using it.
EDIT: Mind Lab Pro has various celebrity testimonials on their website, one of which is from David Williams, a professional poker player. In perhaps one of the cheesiest finishes we’ve seen to a supplement review, he claims the only side effect he has from Mind Lab Pro is “winning” [more at poker].
Here’s David’s video:
Aside from that remark, it’s a great insight into where his head is at when it comes to nootropics and how they’re working for him.
There’s a similar story from Nigel Short (a Chess Grandmaster) who uses MindLab Pro to keep his brain sharp:

My Personal Mind Lab Pro Review
I’m Al Sutcliffe, the editor at uclh.org and this my full review and experience with Mind Lab Pro:
Why I bought Mind Lab Pro:
I needed a new nootropic stack. I do a lot of writing, researching and studying for both this site and in my day-job. Coffee just doesn’t cut it, for years I had been using my own custom stack (L-Theanine, Caffeine and Bacopa). It worked for me, but I felt it needed some updating.
I usually make my own stacks, as I feel most of the market is full of rip-offs that never do the dosage justice. Mind Lab Pro got my attention due to generous dosing and extensive amount of research they display on their site.
What tipped me over into buying MLP was the staggering 280+ positive verified reviews piling up on the site – if you haven’t noticed, I sprinkled a few of them in the ingredients section before too. Here’s the overall ratings:
Mostly 5 starts, which is very impressive. There’s a few haters in there, but that’s always the case with any product.
Here’s a few of the highlights that really spoke to me:
After taking Mind Lab Pro, it’s these two reviews here that I relate to the most; a seasoned nootropic veteran and someone with a demanding day job.
It’s great for your mood, your mind, and you don’t have to fumble around online trying your hand at building your own stack. Mind Lab Pro has done all the hard work and gives you what you want at the best potency and dosage.
If you want to know more there a TON of these on the Mind Lab Pro website, you can read them all by clicking here.
What I Bought:
For this review I ordered the 3 month package of Mind Lab Pro directly from the official website.
My order came with a 4th free bottle of Mind Lab and also saved me a few dollars on shipping (it’s free if you buy more than one box). It took 3 days to arrive via USPS.
And of course it’s all protected by the money-back guarantee, so I felt no guilt in spending the cash. My thinking was if it worked, great! If not, bye-bye Mind Lab, hello refund! Luckily, it didn’t come to that and I actually ended up buying another 3 month’s supply.
Note: This is my personal experience of Mind Lab Pro, your results may vary.
I took 2 capsules of Mind Lab Pro once in the morning, and still do to this day. In the first week, I noticed a small boost in energy and focus. However, with any nootropic, I usually write this off as a placebo effect. It wasn’t.
My first fear when taking Mind Lab Pro was I wouldn’t get the benefit of the caffeine I usually had in my old stack. That fear soon passed after a few weeks into this stack, plus I could always stack it with a coffee if I felt like it.
After my first month of Mind Lab Pro I noticed I was being more creative, coming for better ideas and solutions to problems at work, and most importantly getting more done.
After that, it seemed to get better from there, here’s a rundown of both the earlier and later effects I experienced when taking Mind Lab Pro:
Things I noticed after a few weeks:
- No mental burnout after a full day of work: I could still be a human after 8/9 hours at a desk.
- On top of things more: I could finish my daily tasks earlier and even plan ahead for the next day.
- Less “spacing-out”: Work brain fog became less frequent and it became easier to just get things done.
Things I noticed after a few months:
- Better memory: I could remember projects I worked on in the past in-depth without having to refresh myself to help my coworkers.
- Calmer and more focused: Work became less stressful and carried less anxiety, despite being able to take on more at a time. This was major for me.
- Things “make sense” faster: I find I understand where people are coming from faster, and don’t feel a need to re-read as much when a client asks for things.
- Can see the bigger picture: It’s become easier to step-back and come up with better plans for projects, my ability to prioritize definitely has improved.
A few of coworkers and friends have also noticed some changes too, I’ve had comments that I’m sharper – usually in conversation – and have better observation skills in picking up on things that they didn’t.
At no point did I experience any side effects, my brain clarity is better and I just feel like I am operating at a much higher level of cognition than I did previously.
All in all, Mind Lab Pro has been far better than my previous stack and definitely something I’d recommend to nootropic veterans and newbies alike.
Other Mind Lab Pro Reviews: Forums
Mind Lab Pro is being well received on forums from around the world. We’re not seeing any full, in-depth forum reviews, but what we are reading about Mind Lab Pro on there is generally positive.
The first report on Mind Lab Pro on forums that stood out to us, was on a UK diabetes forum (diabetes.co.uk).
One of the users on the forum was having memory problems and forgetfulness as a side effect of suffering from diabetes and was wondering if there are ways to help deal with it. There is some thought that the lack of sugar is linked to these memory problems.
One of the other forum users piped in with their recommendation for Mind Lab Pro:
*This was a huge post, so we’ve taken just the relevant part of the forum reply which focuses on Mind Lab Pro!
“Finally… one of the common symptoms of depression is trouble with memory (and/or concentration). Depression is not a simple illness; you can have many of the symptoms without feeling depressed. Remember that depression can be caused by hormonal problems (which diabetes creates!) and chronic inflammation (like an autoimmune condition), not just your environment and attitude, so there’s really no shame in it. Studies have shown that taking antidepressants can improve memory in people with depression.
I take a nootropic (brain-boosting) supplement called Mind Lab Pro as well as Omega-3 supplements. The Mind Lab Pro definitely has a positive effect on my mind, and I have recommended it to some friends who also noticed an improvement.“
– Forum User from Diabetes.co.uk
The next post that we saw came from Bodybuilding.com, which briefly mentioned that they use Mind Lab Pro when another user asked what the forum’s favorite Nootropic was:
“I just purchased Mind Lab Pro after reading quite a bit about it, and about 10 days in, feeling less foggy, more focused, etc. So far, so good.”
– Forum user from Bodybuilding.com
Aside from these two mentions, there’s not that much chat on general forums which discuss Mind Lab Pro at length.
- On Reddit
Reddit is usually a great place to get advice on anything, but does it rate Mind Lab Pro?
We were surprised by the lack of chatter about this nootropic on the ‘front-page of the internet’ as it’s known. We found several posts asking for advice on Mind Lab Pro, but seldom posts of users on Reddit actually discussing it.
The main concerns users had with Mind Lab Pro was the high price. We have to agree, $65.00 is on the more expensive side of a nootropic – but Mind Lab Pro is well-dosed, contains effective ingredients and is one of the highest rated nootropics on supplement blogs across the internet.
Here’s a typical conversation you’ll come across on Reddit that discusses Mind Lab Pro:
“Is Mind Lab Pro Legit?”
Seems like the blogs I read, vouch for it. I went ahead and bought it, mostly out of desperation. Is it a good supplement product? Thank you!”
– Reddit User asking about Mind Lab Pro
And another user responds:
“They’re good just expensive as all F—.”
Where to Buy Mind Lab Pro?
Mind Lab Pro is only sold on their official website. This means that you’re not going to find it stores such as GNC, the Vitamin Shoppe or any other supplement or nootropics store.
There are websites out there which claim to sell Mind Lab Pro, but these could be counterfeits or used product. Always be vigilant when shopping online and make sure you order from the official site to avoid any potential disappointment.
Mind Lab Pro is not available on Amazon. The only place you can buy this nootropic is from the official MindLabPro website.
You’re not going to find it from any major online nootropic retailers, or Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk or any of its websites.
Edit: Since writing this review, we’ve been informed by a number of our readers that they have seen Mind Lab Pro on the Amazon website. We reached out to Opti-Nutra to get some insight on this, and they confirmed they were not behind this.
It was sold at a higher price on Amazon.com, and it’s believed that this was someone who was potentially trying to profit by selling fake copies on the Amazon website – or someone trying to resell Mind Lab Pro for profit.
Opti-Nutra have since shut down this activity to ensure you’re not getting used or fake products from Amazon. Only buy it from the official website.
- Coupons and Discount Codes
At present, there are no coupons or discount codes for Mind Lab Pro. The flat price for one bottle of Mind Lab Pro (30 day supply of 60 capsules) is $65.00.
However, you can get a significant discount from Mind Lab Pro website if you decided to buy more than one box of the product. Buying the three month supply gives you a
Why you should buy 3 bottles of Mind Lab Pro instead of one:
- Get an extra 4th box free – $260.00 worth of product for less than $200!
- Free shipping and handling worldwide – Save $10 on shipping for a total saving of $75!
- Protected by a money-back guarantee.
If you live outside the USA or UK, you would actually be saving more. Mind Lab Pro ship from the USA and UK, as it costs more for them to send it to other parts of the world.
If you just buy one box, like it and want more, you’re going to have to repeat your shipping costs and pay full price. Whereas if you got the 3 box, shipping would be free and you’d even had a spare bottle for a fourth month.
If you didn’t like it, you could send back your order for a refund. The only difference is that you would’ve paid for the shipping with the single Mind Lab Pro bottle order, whereas you wouldn’t have for the triple bottle order.
Mind Lab Pro does not offer a free trial. We can see why, nootropics take time for you to get the full benefit.
If you were only taking this nootropic for a few days, you’d be unlikely to get much benefit. It wouldn’t give you the best impression of this nootropic.
You need to be taking Mind Lab Pro for a few weeks to get the full experience.

Additional Questions and Comparisons
A lot of you are wondering how Mind Lab Pro compares to some of the other higher-end nootropics on the market.
Below, we’ve answered some of the more popular comparison requests we’ve received and our opinion of how Mind Lab Pro stacks up against them.
Mind Lab Pro vs Qualia
Qualia Mind contains 28 ingredients whereas Mind Lab Pro only has 11. For ingredients, Qualia Mind may look like the better nootropic. Mind has more than double nootropics than Mind Lab Pro. However, Qualia Mind has a few issues with these ingredients.
Not all the ingredients in Qualia Mind have been seen to be safe. For example, the Huperzine A in Qualia Mind has links to causing potential side effects. Qualia Mind also contains caffeine – which MindLabPro doesn’t have. Caffeine risks the chance of having energy crashes after a few hours of using the supplement.
In our opinion, Mind Lab Pro is safer than Qualia.
At $65.00 a bottle of 30 servings compared to Qualia’s $99.00 a bottle of 22 servings, Mind Lab Pro is also the cheaper, more cost effective nootropic.
In our opinion Mind Lab Pro is better, it contains cognitive enhancers that just work. Qualia Mind is spread a bit too thin for our liking, it’s more expensive and opens you up to more risk too.
Mind Lab Pro vs Qualia? We have to give it to MindLab Pro.
Mind Lab Pro vs Alpha Brain
Alpha Brain’s AC11 is Cat’s Claw Extract that is unique to Alpha Brain, however the Lion’s Mane Mushroom in Mind Lab Pro has strong neuro-regenerative effects that Alpha Brain doesn’t.
It’s also worth noting that Alpha Brain doesn’t have Mind Lab Pro’s premium versions of ingredients; for example: Suntheanine is a branded L-Theanine that Alpha Brain doesn’t have. Alpha Brain also doesn’t have the nature-identical Vitamin Bs that Mind Lab Pro has.
Alpha Brain also uses proprietary blends. You don’t know the dosages for each individual ingredient. This makes it difficult to know how effective the ingredients really are, and if they’re well dosed enough to give you the best results. Whereas Mind Lab Pro has every ingredient clearly labelled with their own respective dosages.
However, Alpha Brain is significantly cheaper than Mind Lab Pro, it’s $34.95 compared to Mind Lab Pro’s $65.00. We do have to point out that we feel this is because Mind Lab Pro is much higher quality than Alpha Brain – and in our opinion, the better option.
Mind Lab Pro vs Modafinil
Modafinil (Provigil) is a pharmaceutical drug, it has dangerous risks and is not the same as Mind Lab Pro. Mind Lab Pro is an all natural nootropic supplement targeted at raising your cognition purely by natural means.
Modafinil does this through being structurally similar to an amphetamine. It can cause advanced heart rate, headache, nausea, anxiety, insomnia and numerous other highly potent stimulant side effects.
It can do serious damage if used improperly and as you need a prescription for it, buying Modafinil outside of a doctor’s office may put you at risk of serious internal damage.
If you want a safe and effective option for boosting cognition, go with Mind Lab Pro.
Mind Lab Pro vs Adderall
Adderall is a prescription drug, which is vastly different (and more dangerous) than Mind Lab Pro. If you want a natural cognitive boost that is safe to use without fear of side effects – we recommend Mind Lab Pro.
Adderall is a combination of four salt amphetamines. It has numerous high end side effects such as headaches, raised blood pressure, insomnia, loss of appetite, weight loss, diarrhea and more.
It’s a much more dangerous alternative to Mind Lab Pro and not one that we recommend using if you’re looking to raise your cognition. Stick to natural options. Drugs should only be used upon recommendation by your doctor.
