Prime Labs Prime Test Ingredients: Are they good?
They’re in a proprietary blend, which isn’t a good start. A proprietary blend is when a supplement manufacturer chooses to hide the dosages of the ingredients in their product.
It’s typically claimed that this is to protect their ‘secret formula’, but there are plenty of major, more successful brands which are completely transparent.
The issues with a proprietary blend is that ingredients may be under-dosed for costs. You may not be getting enough of what you need from this supplement to see the full results.
As for the ingredients themselves, we’d say they may need a touch up too. Here’s everything you need to know:
Horny Goat Weed
The first ingredient in Prime Labs Prime Test, but it’s certainly not the best.
Horny Goat Weed (also known as Epimedium) has several issues when it comes to testosterone. Despite being claimed to help raise the male hormone, studies have shown that this may not be the case.
In reality, all it may be capable of doing is mildly improving the user’s libido.
This isn’t ideal if you’re looking to get muscle gains from this ingredient.
This is a slightly better choice in Prime Labs Prime Test, but still not exactly what we’re looking for.
Tongkat Ali, also known as Longjack and Eurycoma Longifolia is a herb which has various claims of raising testosterone levels.
There is evidence of it working – however, this is only in animal testing. When it comes to humans, there’s nothing solid to show that that this can help your testosterone levels.
The main thing that it has been seen to do in human testing is too boost libido, not much else.
It’s not an ideal choice, but at least there is some evidence of it helping with testosterone levels.
This isn’t a testosterone booster in Prime Labs Prime Test – however, it does have other users.
Saw Palmetto is a herb which has been seen in some cases to help support the health of your prostate.
Studies show that supplementing Saw Palmetto can help reduce the effects of Hyperplasia (which is an enlarged prostate). Obviously, it’s not as effective as actual medicine, but it’s a good natural source for promoting prostate health.
This isn’t a great choice in Prime Labs Prime Test. In our opinion, it’s more of a marketing angle.
Why? Because it’s actually bovine testes, or in other words bull testicles. We know how masculine and macho a bull looks, and there’s no question that their T-levels are through the roof.
It’s an easy angle to say that their testicles are a source of high testosterone. This is not the case if you orally supplement them though. There are no studies to confirm that consuming orchic extract boosts your T levels.
You’re unlikely to see a lot of results from taking it.
This is another ingredient in Prime Labs Prime Test which is a bit of a reach too.
Wild Yams are usually used in supplements to help women cope with the symptoms of the menopause. The idea here is that it could help to manage and regulate your levels of the female hormone estrogen.
It sounds good in theory, but in practice there’s little to no evidence of it actually influencing this hormone.
This has some advantages in Prime Labs Prime Test, but not for testosterone.
Sarsaparilla has some evidence of it helping to promote cognition and focus. This is more of a mental benefit than a physical one and could help with motivation in the gym, rather than actually building mass.
It’s not a great ingredient in here, but it does have some uses.
This is one of the more effective ingredients in Prime Labs Prime Test, mainly because it can actually help with testosterone.
The main advantage of Nettle extract is that it can improve free testosterone levels. Free testosterone is the T that readily available and circulating in your body.
Nettle works by interacting with a protein in your blood known as Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHGB). SHBG is known to bind to your free testosterone and reduce the anabolic potency. This makes the affected testosterone worthless.
Nettle helps by inhibiting the SHBG and reducing it’s overall influence. This allows more testosterone to circulate throughout your system unaffected and be more available to you.
This is the other good addition in Prime Labs Prime Test. Boron is a mineral which has been seen in several cases to help promote testosterone, and even reduce estrogen levels.
This is good for balancing both your female and male hormones in a way which most benefits your testosterone levels.
It’s unfortunate that only this and Nettle are the only ingredients in here which actively help testosterone levels.
The Ingredients Overview: Prime Labs Prime Test
As you can see, the ingredients aren’t as spectacular as the design of this supplement’s bottle makes out.
There’s a lot of ingredients in here, but they seem more suited toward a libido enhancer, rather than a testosterone booster.
The main ingredients in here that matter are the Boron and the Stinging Nettle. Aside from that, there’s a lot to be desired in Prime Labs Prime Test.
The proprietary blend doesn’t help either. You can’t know how effective a supplement truly is if you don’t know how much of each ingredient you’re getting.
It’s definitely a hard one to judge. A lot of changes could be made to improve this supplement.
Is it Prime Labs Prime Test safe to use?
We would say so. To our knowledge, there are no damning user reports saying that it gave them negative side effects.
All the ingredients are natural as well, it shouldn’t pose too much of a problem.
That said, we cannot speak for everyone. If you have any concerns, we suggest that you speak to your doctor before using it. Especially if you have any allergies or preexisting conditions.
What would uclh.org change, add or remove from Prime Labs Prime Test?
Quite a lot, aside from the Stinging Nettle and Boron. The main thing that would have to go is the proprietary blend. Transparency is essential.
Aside from that we think the following should be added:
- D-Aspartic Acid
- Mucuna Pruriens
Zinc, D-Aspartic Acid and Mucuna Pruriens all promote your body’s levels of the Luteinizing Hormone (LH) which is your precursor to both growth hormone and testosterone. DAA and Zinc do this via chemical reactions in your brain whereas Mucuna Pruriens do it by promoting the Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) which serves as precursor to LH.
Ashwagandha reduces your body’s levels of the hormone cortisol – which is the stress hormone which can reduce testosterone. The less cortisol you have in your system the more support your T levels have to rise.
Luteolin would also work as it can help to fight and reduce estrogen levels. It’s an aromatase inhibitor (estrogen suppressant) which makes it great for giving your testosterone levels an advantage.
There’s a lot of changes we would make here.
Prime Labs Prime Test Review Summary
This is a popular supplement, but that doesn’t mean it’s the most effective one.
Some of the ingredients in this supplement do not have the supplements to support them – and Prime Labs Prime Test don’t tell us the dosage of a single one.
A lot needs to be added to this supplement for it to have the impact we’re looking for. As for now here’s the main things you need to know:
- Some ineffective ingredients – Not all nutrients in here promote testosterone.
- Missing core nutrients – More study backed testosterone boosters would help a lot here.
- Hidden dosages – Proprietary blends stop you from knowing individual dosages for each ingredient.
